About The Event
AFL and Disability Sports Australia are presenting a special edition of an Abilities Unleashed event! Get active with us in a fun, safe, and inclusive environment during the 2024 Toyota AFL Open in Brendale.
People living with sensory, physical and intellectual disabilities are invited to this free event. Proudly supported by MatchWorks and the Australian Sports Commission, participants will be encouraged and empowered to explore local adaptive sport and recreation opportunities alongside spectating an elite level disability sport.
How the day will look
Participants will be split into smaller class groups (maximum 20) upon registration. After a welcome they will rotate across 4-6 stations. These activities will consist of modified AFL and sport and active recreation with the use of adaptive equipment to suit the participants. The stations will be facilitated by specialised coaches with the support of students and community organisations.
